The Neuro Surgery department handles brain and spine emergencies. Brain haemorrhage and head injury from road accidents need treatment within hours; KEMH provides immediate operation facility for brain haemorrhage, accidents and road accidents, supported by the ICU team.
After surgery, patients are cared for in the ICU and then guided through recovery and rehabilitation.
When to visit
- Head injury with vomiting, drowsiness or fits
- Sudden severe headache, weakness of one side of the body or loss of speech
- Unconsciousness after an accident
